What to Expect
If you are a first time visitor hoping to get a sense of what Sunday morning worship services are like, this is for you! We understand that everyone comes from a different background, so we welcome all to come as they are.
What do we do during the worship service?
The worship service begins with a set of worship songs— a mix of hymns and contemporary music. Sometimes this set incorporates a small moment of greeting or praying with those sitting near you. After singing, we transition into a 35-minute sermon, where the pastor explains a passage of Scripture. Typically we work through books of the Bible verse by verse. We have extra Bibles available, as well as screens with the passages so everyone can follow along and see God's Word for themselves. The service typically closes with one final worship song and church announcements for the following week. Feel free to stay around and get to know people!
How should I dress while attending the worship service?
There is no dress code at Hope Church. You will see people dressed in a range of
casual-wear, to more formal-wear. You are welcome to worship with us in whatever clothing makes you feel most comfortable!
Is there a program
for children during
the service?
Yes! We have two age groups: Mini Zone (ages 3-6) and Kids Zone (ages 7-11). After the second worship song the children are dismissed to their programs, where they learn Bible stories, make a craft, and enjoy a snack. Our goal is to see our children grow in knowledge and love for Jesus. There is also a cry room available for mothers with young children, where the service can be livestreamed. Children are also always welcome to remain in the worship service with their parents!
Does the church ask visitors for money?
We do not expect visitors of the church to give. During the service, an offering is collected, but we see giving primarily as an act of worship for our members to participate in the work that God is doing through our church. As a guest, we want you to come and receive whatever God might teach you through the service. Most importantly, we never want people to give under compulsion, but joyfully, as a response to who God is and what He has done (2 Corinthians 9:6-7).
